Licuala stongensis is one of the fan-shaped palm species has a potential as an ornamental plant. Is a new species found in Peninsular Malaysia during the Scientific Expedition Gunung Stong in Kelantan. Is a species endemic to Mount Stong which is also the name of the species is given in conjunction with the location of the discovery of this species. Gunung Stong is known as the site that contains a variety of rare species in other locations. Continuity of it, and also based on other findings during this expedition State Government has announced its commitment to protect the area with Mount Stong Forest Reserve gazetted as a State Park Middle. Capacity for Mountain Stong State Park is approximately 21,950 hectares.
